FUNERAL - VEDIC PRACTICE (INNER CHAMBER)
R 415
Antyesti, or the last rites, mark the final journey of the departed soul. These rites typically involve cremation. The timing and specific rituals may vary, but the overarching aim is to help the departed soul transition smoothly into the afterlife.
Throughout the funeral process, prayers, hymns, and mantras are recited by priests or family members. These prayers are intended to provide spiritual support to the deceased and guide their soul to its next destination. The Gayatri Mantra, in particular, is often recited during funeral rites.
